Hometown Heroes
Honoring Amelia’s Veterans & Service Members
Behind every uniform is a person, a family, and a story worth honoring.
Outpost Signs is creating a community display at Amelia Academy to recognize veterans and service members with personalized tribute signs. Join us in celebrating their service and keeping their stories visible in our hometown.
About the Hometown Heroes Display
Hometown Heroes is an Outpost Outreach community project honoring veterans and service members, both living and deceased. Honorees do not have to be from Amelia County to participate.
Our personalized tribute signs will be displayed together at Amelia Academy for approximately two weeks, with a planned display of November 4–18, 2026, surrounding Veterans Day.
Outpost Signs will create the signs and handle placement and removal.
Purchase a Sign — $25
Families and individuals can purchase a personalized 18 × 24-inch outdoor yard sign with a stake honoring someone special. *If you can’t afford one sponsorship may be available.
After the display, families may keep their honoree’s sign, whether purchased or sponsored. Outpost Signs will coordinate pickup. Families may also leave their sign with us for possible future Hometown Heroes displays.
Sponsor a Hero — $25
Residents, families, businesses, and community groups can help honor a veteran or service member by sponsoring a tribute sign.
You may sponsor a specific hero or let Outpost Signs match your sponsorship with someone who needs funding. Sponsor recognition can include your name, family name, business, or organization.
Email us at info@outpostsignsva.com to sponsor someone specific or help fund a sign for a hero who needs sponsorship.
Need a Sponsored Sign?
We want families to have an opportunity to honor their loved ones. If you need help covering the cost, select the sponsorship request option on the form.
Sponsored signs depend on available funding. We’ll do our best to match requests with sponsors and will contact you if funding is unavailable.
What Information Will You Need?
Please submit a separate form for each honoree. Have the following ready:
Your honoree’s name and whether they are living or deceased.
Their military branch and years of service.
The best available photo of your honoree.
Any optional rank, conflict, or confirmed awards you would like included.
An optional story or short biography.
Older photographs are welcome. We’ll make reasonable improvements where possible, although the quality of the original photo affects the finished image.
Please provide accurate information and include only confirmed service details and awards.
Review and Approve Your Sign
We’ll email you a digital proof along with a payment link. Please check the name, photograph, service information, and spelling carefully, and let us know if corrections are needed.
Your design must be approved and payment received before printing, unless your sign is covered by sponsorship.
Signs honoring living veterans and service members will say “Thank You for Your Service.” Signs honoring deceased veterans and service members will say “In Honor of Your Service.”
Orders and final proof approvals are due November 1, 2026. Please submit early enough to allow time for review and corrections.
Late requests may be accepted when production allows, but Veterans Day completion cannot be guaranteed.
Payment and Permissions
Payment options include our website payment link, Venmo, cash, or check. Payment must be confirmed before production unless your sign is covered by an approved sponsorship.
The form includes permission for your honoree’s information and photograph to appear in the public sign display. Please review the separate permissions for online stories and social media sharing.
Outpost Signs is not responsible for theft, vandalism, or weather damage after signs are displayed.
